Description: German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dðrer is held up as perhaps the mostsignificant artist of his time, particularly for his printmaking. The son of aNuremberg goldsmith, Dðrer was introduced early to the tools in his father'strade. When he was eventually allowed to train as an artist, Dðrer apprenticedto a local publisher before traveling throughout Europe, where he encounteredartists who greatly influenced his work. Over the next few decades, he createdwoodcuts and engravings that revolutionized printmaking as a form of fine art. This collection of 12 woodcut prints from the collections of The ClevelandMuseum of Art, The Metropolitan Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Artdepict a range of subjects including the Last Supper, the Virgin Mary, andcelestial intervention.
