Description: Alphonse Mucha's iconic linework gained popularity in Paris toward theend of the 19th century and to this day remains some of the most recognizablework from this time period. Producing lithographs advertising everything fromchampagne to theatre productions, Mucha and his portraiture of glamorous womendraped in flowing gowns and pastel florals helped to define the Art Nouveaumovement. He wrote of his work, "I was happy to be involved in an art for thepeople and not for private drawing rooms. It was inexpensive, accessible tothe general public, and it found a home in poor families as well as in moreaffluent circles. " Sixteen of Mucha's decorative prints are reproduced inthis calendar.
